- 3 lbs pork shoulder
- 1 cup pure apple cider
- 2 medium sweet onions, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp cider vinegar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Prep all ingredients: slice onions, mince garlic, and measure spices.
- Sear the pork shoulder in a hot skillet until golden brown on all sides.
- Add sliced onions and minced garlic to the pan, sautéing until softened.
- In a bowl, mix apple cider, brown sugar, cider vinegar, salt, pepper, cinnamon, and paprika.
- Pour the sauce over the pork in a slow cooker; cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours until tender.
- Shred the pork using two forks right in its juices and serve with extra sauce.
