  • 3 lbs pork shoulder
  • 1 cup pure apple cider
  • 2 medium sweet onions, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep all ingredients: slice onions, mince garlic, and measure spices.
  2. Sear the pork shoulder in a hot skillet until golden brown on all sides.
  3. Add sliced onions and minced garlic to the pan, sautéing until softened.
  4. In a bowl, mix apple cider, brown sugar, cider vinegar, salt, pepper, cinnamon, and paprika.
  5. Pour the sauce over the pork in a slow cooker; cook on low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours until tender.
  6. Shred the pork using two forks right in its juices and serve with extra sauce.

Notes

  • You can adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of brown sugar.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
