A unique twist on the classic margarita, featuring activated charcoal for a striking black color.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz silver tequila
  • 1 oz orange liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • ½ oz agave syrup or simple syrup
  • ¼ tsp activated charcoal (food-grade)
  • Black salt or sugar for rimming (optional)
  • Ice
  • Lime wheel or star anise for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glass: Optional: Rim your glass with black salt or sugar by rubbing a lime wedge around the edge and dipping it into the salt or sugar.
  2. Mix the Cocktail: In a shaker, combine tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, agave syrup, and activated charcoal.
  3. Shake: Add ice to the shaker and shake well for 10–15 seconds until the mixture is chilled and evenly black.
  4. Serve: Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
  5. Garnish: Add a lime wheel or a star anise for a decorative touch.
