Bourbon Street Chicken and Shrimp is a delicious and flavorful dish that combines tender chicken and shrimp with a savory sauce, perfect for serving over rice or noodles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 2 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Prep your ingredients: Chop green onions and mince garlic.
  2. Cook the chicken: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season chicken with salt and pepper; cook until golden brown on all sides.
  3. Add shrimp: Once chicken is cooked through, toss in shrimp and cook until pink (about 3-5 minutes).
  4. Create the sauce: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, garlic, chicken broth, and red pepper flakes. Pour into the skillet.
  5. Simmer: Let the mixture simmer for about 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened. Stir occasionally.
  6. Add cornstarch slurry: Mix cornstarch with water until smooth; stir into the skillet for extra thickness.
  7. Serve hot over rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Adjust the level of red pepper flakes based on your spice preference.
  • For added flavor, marinate the chicken in the sauce for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
