Ingredients
Scale
3–4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)
1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
2 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
Instructions
Prep your ingredients: Chop green onions and mince garlic.
Cook the chicken: Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season chicken with salt and pepper; cook until golden brown on all sides.
Add shrimp: Once chicken is cooked through, toss in shrimp and cook until pink (about 3-5 minutes).
Create the sauce: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, garlic, chicken broth, and red pepper flakes. Pour into the skillet.
Simmer: Let the mixture simmer for about 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened. Stir occasionally.
Add cornstarch slurry: Mix cornstarch with water until smooth; stir into the skillet for extra thickness.
Serve hot over rice or noodles.
Notes
Adjust the level of red pepper flakes based on your spice preference.
For added flavor, marinate the chicken in the sauce for at least 30 minutes before cooking.
