- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 cup pizza sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup pepperoni slices
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add the milk, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch thickness.
- Use a round cutter or glass to cut out circles in the dough.
- Spread a tablespoon of pizza sauce onto each circle, leaving a border around the edge.
- Top with a sprinkle of mozzarella cheese and a few slices of pepperoni.
- Fold the dough in half over the filling, pressing the edges to seal.
- Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch and to ensure the seal.
- Place the pockets onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg and sprinkle with dried oregano for flavor.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your cheesy pizza pockets!
Notes
- For a vegetarian option, omit the pepperoni.
- These pizza pockets can be frozen before baking, just bake them longer when cooking from frozen.
