Ingredients
Scale
3 ripe bananas
1 cup dark chocolate chips (or milk chocolate chips for a sweeter touch)
1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for smoother chocolate)
½ cup unsweetened shredded coconut (for coating)
¼ cup chopped nuts (e.g., almonds or walnuts, for extra crunch)
A pinch of sea salt (to enhance the chocolate flavor)
Instructions
Prepare the Bananas: Peel the ripe bananas and slice them into rounds about ½-inch thick.
Melt the Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the dark chocolate chips and coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.
Dip the Banana Slices: Take each banana slice and dip it into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated. You can use a fork or toothpick to aid in dipping.
Coat with Toppings: After dipping, sprinkle the chocolate-covered banana slices with shredded coconut, chopped nuts, and a very slight pinch of sea salt for added flavor.
Freeze the Bites: Place the coated banana slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Make sure they aren’t touching each other. Freeze for about 1-2 hours, or until the chocolate is hardened.
Serve & Enjoy: Once frozen, remove the banana bites from the parchment paper and store them in an airtight container in the freezer. Pull them out as needed for a quick, delicious snack!
Notes
For a vegan option, ensure the chocolate chips are dairy-free.
Experiment with different toppings like crushed pretzels or seeds for variety.
These bites can be stored in the freezer for up to two months.
