  • 1 sheet of puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried sage)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried thyme)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1/2 cup grated cheese (cheddar or your favorite cheese)
  • Optional: 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (for added texture)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, sauté the onion until translucent, then add the garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  3. In a large bowl, combine sausage meat, sautéed onion and garlic, sage, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix in optional cheese and breadcrumbs if desired.
  4. On a floured surface, roll out the puff pastry, cutting it into rectangles (about 4 inches by 6 inches).
  5. Place a spoonful of the sausage mixture on one edge of each rectangle, roll it up, and seal the edges with water.
  6. Brush the tops of the rolls with the beaten egg and place them on a baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  8. Let the sausage rolls cool slightly before serving.
