Delightful and customizable French macarons that brighten any occasion with their vibrant colors and flavors.

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 3/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 large egg whites
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • Food coloring (optional)
  • Buttercream or ganache for filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Sift together almond flour and powdered sugar in a bowl.
  3. Beat the egg whites in a separate bowl until foamy, then add cream of tartar and gradually mix in granulated sugar until stiff peaks form.
  4. Fold the dry ingredients into the egg whites using a rubber spatula until a flowy consistency is achieved.
  5. Add food coloring if desired, and mix gently.
  6. Transfer the batter to a piping bag and pipe small circles on the prepared baking sheet, aiming for 1.5 inches.
  7. Tap the baking sheet gently to release air bubbles, then let the macarons sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until shells are set and lift easily from parchment.
  9. Allow the macarons to cool completely before filling with buttercream or ganache.
  10. Assemble and enjoy your colorful macarons!
