Ingredients
Scale
1 lb (450g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tbsp olive oil
2 tbsp butter
4 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp smoked paprika (or sweet paprika)
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
1/2 tsp onion powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 cup chicken broth or dry white wine
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tbsp lemon juice
Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish
Instructions
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the shrimp with salt, pepper, and a little paprika. Sear for about 1–2 minutes per side, just until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium. Add butter, then stir in the garlic, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, and onion powder. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
Pour in the broth (or wine) and stir, scraping up any browned bits from the pan. Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes.
Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Simmer gently for 3–4 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet. Stir to coat in the sauce and cook for another 1–2 minutes. Finish with lemon juice.
Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve hot over pasta, rice, or with warm bread.
Notes
Shrimp can be swapped for chicken if desired.
Adjust the spice level by adding more or less red pepper flakes.
Can be served over various sides like pasta, rice, or bread.
