A delightful French toast made with soft Hawaiian rolls, soaked in a creamy custard and finished with a drizzle of maple syrup and fresh berries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 King’s Hawaiian Rolls
  • 4 Large Eggs
  • 1 Cup Milk or Half-and-Half
  • 1/4 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1 Cup Fresh Berries
  • 1/2 Cup Maple Syrup

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the custard: In a large mixing bowl, crack the eggs and whisk until well blended. Then, stir in the milk, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon, blending everything into a smooth, frothy mixture.
  2. Prepare the bread: Slice the King’s Hawaiian Rolls in half horizontally. Dip each half into the custard mix, allowing the bread to soak for about 2-3 minutes on each side, ensuring it absorbs that sweet goodness.
  3. Heat your skillet: In a large non-stick skillet or griddle, melt a tablespoon of butter over medium heat until it sizzles joyfully.
  4. Cook the French toast: Place the soaked bread halves carefully on the skillet, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until a beautiful golden brown crust forms.
  5. Serve it up: Once cooked, transfer to a serving platter and dust generously with powdered sugar, then crown it with a luscious drizzle of maple syrup and scatter fresh berries on top.

Notes

For a creative twist, consider adding chocolate chips or nuts into the custard, or sprinkling with coconut flakes on top.
