3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
4 large eggs
2 teaspoons anise extract
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup colorful sprinkles for decoration
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Incorporate the anise extract.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, combining until a soft dough forms.
If desired, roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes or divide the dough into small balls and roll them into sticks.
Place the shaped dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart.
Sprinkle the colorful sprinkles over the cookies.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes, or until the cookies are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
These cookies can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
