Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup pastel-colored chocolate candies (like M&M’s)
  • Nonpareils (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven: Set it to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Whisk dry ingredients: In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream the butter and sugar: Cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Add eggs and vanilla: Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add in the vanilla extract.
  5. Combine the mixtures: Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet until well combined.
  6. Shape the dough: Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Press in candy: Gently press a chocolate candy into the center of each cookie ball.
  8. Optional fun: Sprinkle with nonpareils.
  9. Bake time: Bake for 10-12 minutes until lightly golden at edges.
  10. Cool down: Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Use softened butter for best texture and consider resting the dough for better flavor.
