Delicious and easy-to-make French Toast Cups that are perfect for breakfast or brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 slices brioche or challah bread
  • 3 large eggs
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter or cooking spray for greasing
  • Maple syrup, powdered sugar, or berries for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease a standard muffin tin.
  2. Cut bread slices into quarters and gently press 3–4 pieces into each muffin cup, forming a cup shape.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
  4. Slowly pour the egg mixture evenly over the bread cups, allowing it to soak in.
  5. Lightly press the bread down to ensure full absorption of the custard.
  6. Bake for 22–25 minutes, or until puffed, golden, and set in the center.
  7. Remove from oven and cool slightly before removing from the tin.
  8. Serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh fruit.

Notes

  • Ensure the bread is slightly stale for better absorption of the custard.
  • Add chocolate chips or nuts for additional flavor and texture.
  • These can be prepared ahead of time and baked just before serving.
