  • 4 cups fresh cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 double pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Wash and pit the cherries, then combine them in a bowl with sugar, flour, lemon juice, and salt.
  3. Roll out one pie crust and place it in a pie dish. Pour in the cherry mixture and dot with butter.
  4. Cover with the second pie crust, sealing the edges. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.
  5. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
