A quick and tasty feast of garlic butter shrimp served with orzo pasta.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lemon wedges for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the orzo according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  3. Add the shrimp to the skillet and season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the shrimp are pink and opaque.
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream, stirring to combine. Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Add the cooked orzo to the skillet, tossing to coat the pasta in the garlic butter sauce. Stir in the fresh parsley and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  6. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side for a fresh burst of flavor.

Notes

  • Ensure the garlic doesn’t burn during sautéing, as it can become bitter.
  • Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes according to your spice preference.
  • Can substitute shrimp with chicken for a different protein option.
