- 1 pound fresh spinach, washed and trimmed
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Juice of 1 lemon (optional)
- Red pepper flakes (optional)
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant and lightly golden, being careful not to burn it.
- Add the fresh spinach to the skillet, tossing it with the garlic and oil.
- Cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the spinach is wilted and tender.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. If desired, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the spinach for added brightness.
- For a little heat, sprinkle red pepper flakes on top before serving.
