- 4 slices of sourdough bread
- 8 ounces Havarti cheese, sliced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup fresh arugula
- 1/4 cup caramelized onions
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat.
- Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
- On the unbuttered side of two slices, spread a thin layer of Dijon mustard.
- Layer the Havarti cheese evenly on top of the mustard, followed by the caramelized onions and fresh arugula. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Top with the remaining slices of bread, buttered side facing out.
- Place the sandwiches in the preheated skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and serve warm.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of salt and pepper to your liking.
- You can add more vegetables or different types of cheese if desired.
- For a spicier kick, consider adding some sliced jalapeños.
