Ingredients
Scale
2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
1 cup cherry pie filling, fresh or canned
1 large egg
1 tablespoon whole milk
1 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 to 3 tablespoons milk
Instructions
Set oven to 200°C and allow it to fully preheat.
On a lightly floured surface, roll out thawed puff pastry sheets to eliminate seams.
Divide each pastry sheet into 4 equal squares. Spoon 1 to 2 tablespoons of cherry pie filling into the center of each square.
Fold each square diagonally to form a triangle and firmly press the edges together. Use a fork to crimp and seal edges securely.
In a bowl, vigorously whisk egg with 1 tablespoon milk. Brush the mixture over the surface of each turnover.
Arrange turnovers on a parchment-lined baking tray and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
While baking, mix powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and 2 to 3 tablespoons milk in a bowl until smooth. Adjust milk for desired consistency.
Once turnovers are baked and slightly cooled, drizzle glaze evenly over the top before serving.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider using homemade cherry pie filling.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness.
Feel free to substitute other fillings, like apple or berry, following the same instructions.
