  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 23 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your baking pan.
  2. Beat together the ½ cup of softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add in the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing well.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk; mix until just combined.
  6. Spread half of the batter into your prepared baking pan.
  7. Mix the brown sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl and then add the melted butter.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the base batter, then layer the remaining batter on top.
  9. Swirl the cinnamon mixture throughout the batter with a knife.
  10. Bake for about 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Allow the bars to cool completely on a wire rack.
  12. Beat together the cream cheese and butter until smooth, then add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract.
  13. Add milk gradually until the frosting is spreadable.
  14. Spread the frosting over the cooled bars, cut into squares, and serve.
