  • 16 ounces ground beef (85/15)
  • 16 ounces Italian sausage (ground)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese (grated finely)
  • 14 ounces pizza sauce
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese (grated)
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Combine the ground beef, Italian sausage, eggs, salt, pepper, onion powder, and Parmesan cheese in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Roll the mixture into balls, about one to two inches in diameter.
  4. Heat a splash of oil in a large skillet over high heat and sear the meatballs for about 1-2 minutes on each side.
  5. Remove the meatballs and reduce the heat to medium. Toss in the tomato paste for about 10 seconds, then stir in the pizza sauce and return the meatballs to the pan.
  6. Coat the meatballs in the sauce and turn off the heat.
  7. Sprinkle tops with mozzarella and additional Parmesan cheese, then bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes.
