Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar or sweet Korean sauce
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • Vegetables (broccoli, carrots, or bell peppers)
  • Fried egg (optional)
  • Green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the beef: In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Break it apart with a spatula as it cooks, allowing it to brown evenly.
  2. Sauté garlic: Once the beef is browned, push it to one side of the skillet and add the minced garlic to the other. Sauté for about a minute.
  3. Mix the sauce: Add the soy sauce and brown sugar to the beef mixture. Stir thoroughly and let it simmer on low for a few minutes.
  4. Plate the dish: Serve the beef mixture over a generous scoop of warm rice.
  5. Add toppings: Layer on your choice of steamed vegetables and a fried or poached egg if desired.
  6. Garnish: Finish with a sprinkle of chopped green onions.
