  • 2 pounds beef stew meat (chuck or round)
  • 2 pounds baby Yukon Gold potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon seasoned salt
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients: Cut the beef into bite-sized pieces and rinse the baby potatoes under cold water.
  2. Season the beef: Place the beef in a mixing bowl, sprinkle with seasoned salt, and toss to coat evenly. Add onion powder if using.
  3. Layering in the slow cooker: Begin with half the potatoes at the bottom, add the seasoned beef, and top with the remaining potatoes.
  4. Add the unsalted butter on top, and sprinkle garlic powder and black pepper over everything.
  5. Cover and cook: Secure the lid and set the cooker to low for about 6 hours, until the beef is tender.

Notes

Check the cooker halfway through and resist lifting the lid frequently. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
