Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef
1 cup pizza sauce (store-bought or homemade)
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
6 burger buns (halved)
1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until fully browned and no longer pink, about 8-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
Stir in the pizza sauce and Italian seasoning. Mix thoroughly until the beef is evenly coated. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Place the halved burger buns, cut side up, on a baking sheet.
Spoon the beef and pizza sauce mixture evenly over each bun half.
Top each one with a generous amount of shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 12 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and bubbly, and the bottom of the buns have a slight crunch.
Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving to avoid burning your mouth, as the cheese will be very hot.
Serve warm and enjoy.
Notes
For a spicier kick, add crushed red pepper flakes to the beef mixture.
Feel free to customize toppings with your favorite pizza ingredients, like pepperoni or bell peppers.
