  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
  2. Combine the sourdough starter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and melted butter in a large mixing bowl, and stir until smooth.
  3. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, beating until fully incorporated.
  4. Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  5. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined, then fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes, then cut into squares and serve warm.
