A flavorful and hearty one-skillet dish blending Cajun spices with sweet chili sauce and sausage.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz pasta (penne or fusilli)
  • 1 lb sausage (Italian or smoked)
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped (red or yellow)
  • 1 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat the skillet: In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Sauté the veggies: Add the diced onion and bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and let it cook for another minute.
  4. Brown the sausage: Toss in the sausage and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Season the mixture: Stir in the Cajun seasoning, sweet chili sauce, and chicken broth. Bring to a simmer.
  6. Cook the pasta: Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions, about 10-12 minutes.
  7. Adjust consistency: If the mixture becomes too thick, add more broth or water.
  8. Season to taste: Adjust with salt and pepper as needed.
  9. Garnish and serve: Top with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

Great for leftovers, flavors deepen overnight. Don’t skip browning the sausage for depth.
