A hearty and comforting dish combining smoky sausage, sweet honey, and savory garlic, perfect for quick meals or special occasions.

  • 1 lb smoked sausage, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 cups jasmine rice
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • Olive oil (for cooking)
  • Black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Heat the skillet: In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of olive oil over medium heat to coat the bottom.
  2. Brown the sausage: Add the sliced smoked sausage and sauté for about 5-7 minutes until browned.
  3. Add the garlic: Toss in the minced garlic and cook for another 1-2 minutes until aromatic.
  4. Combine and coat: Mix honey, soy sauce, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes in a bowl, then pour into the skillet and stir well.
  5. Add rice and broth: Add jasmine rice and stir to combine, then pour in chicken broth and bring to a boil.
  6. Simmer: Reduce heat, cover, and let simmer for about 18-20 minutes until the rice is tender.
  7. Fluff and serve: Remove from heat and let sit, covered, for another 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork and serve.

Notes

Don’t rush the browning of the sausage for maximum flavor. Adjust the soy sauce if the broth is too salty.
