Ingredients
Scale
8 to 10 mini apples or 3 to 4 regular apples, washed, dried, and cut into bite-sized pieces
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup water
1/2 teaspoon red food coloring, gel or liquid
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon extract or 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Insert a toothpick or cocktail stick into each apple piece.
In a medium saucepan, combine granulated sugar, water, and red food coloring. Stir gently to integrate ingredients.
Place saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring mixture to a boil without stirring. Allow syrup to reach 302°F (hard crack stage) using a candy thermometer.
Remove the pan from heat promptly. Stir in cinnamon extract or ground cinnamon.
Working quickly, dip each apple piece into the hot syrup, swirling to create an even coating. Let excess candy drip off, then set apples on the prepared parchment paper to cool and harden.
Enjoy immediately for maximum crunch and a glossy finish.
Notes
Ensure apples are completely dry for better coating.
Be cautious when working with hot sugar syrup.
The candy can be stored in an airtight container but is best eaten fresh.
