A delightful dessert combining the classic flavors of tiramisu with a light and airy mousse, set on a soft coffee-soaked sponge cake base.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 8 ounces mascarpone cheese, softened
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream, cold
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Chocolate curls or shavings
  • Ladyfinger crumbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line an 8-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs and sugar until pale, thick, and fluffy (about 4–5 minutes). Mix in vanilla and milk.
  4. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the egg mixture until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 18–22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely.
  6. For the coffee soak, combine cooled coffee, sugar, and coffee liqueur (if using). Brush evenly over the cooled sponge cake.
  7. For the mousse, beat mascarpone and cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla, mixing until creamy.
  8. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into the mascarpone mixture until light and airy.
  9. Spread the tiramisu mousse evenly over the soaked sponge cake. Smooth the top with a spatula.
  10. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until fully set.
  11. Before serving, dust generously with cocoa powder and garnish with chocolate curls or ladyfinger crumbs.

Notes

  • Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for the best results.
  • For a stronger coffee flavor, use espresso instead of brewed coffee.
