Twisted Christmas Cookies are delightful holiday treats that combine warm spices and a soft texture for a festive dessert.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time; mix well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Scoop dough into generous tablespoons and twist into shapes on the baking sheets.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden but centers remain soft. Cool on wire racks.

Notes

  • Make sure to not overmix the dough to keep the cookies soft.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week.
