- 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
- 1 1/2 cups hot water
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for topping)
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Evenly spread melted butter across the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together milk, vanilla extract, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Add flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon, mixing gently until combined without overmixing.
- Spoon the batter evenly over the melted butter without stirring.
- Generously sprinkle the brown sugar over the batter to create a caramelized filling.
- Carefully pour hot water evenly over the batter and sugar mixture. Do not stir.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and edges are set.
- While the cobbler is still hot, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon for the topping.
- Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the cobbler’s surface, allowing it to slightly melt into the crust.
- Let the cobbler cool for 10–15 minutes before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.
Notes
- Ensure not to stir after adding the water, as it creates the necessary steam for a moist cobbler.
- This dish is best served warm.
- Pair with ice cream for an extra treat!
