Ingredients
Scale
6–8 medium Granny Smith apples (washed & dried completely)
3 cups granulated sugar
½ cup light corn syrup
1 cup water
White gel food coloring (a few drops for opacity)
1 tsp vanilla extract (or clear almond extract for a frosty flavor)
Edible pearl dust or white sparkle edible glitter
6–8 white paper straws or wooden sticks
Instructions
Wash and dry apples thoroughly (remove all wax so coating sticks). Insert sticks firmly into the center of each apple. Set aside on a parchment-lined tray.
In a heavy saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Heat over medium-high until mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer. Remove from heat, stir in food coloring and extract.
Working quickly, dip each apple into the hot candy mixture, twirling to coat evenly. Let excess drip off, then place on parchment paper to set.
While still tacky, dust with edible pearl dust or sparkle glitter for a shimmering finish. Allow apples to cool and harden completely before handling.
Notes
Make sure the apples are completely dry for the coating to adhere properly.
Be cautious when working with the hot sugar mixture to avoid burns.
Customize the shimmering finish by using different types of edible glitter.
