Deliciously soft and chewy sugar cookies that are perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3/4 cup white sugar for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Stir together the flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture.
  6. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls and roll in sugar.
  7. Place them on ungreased cookie sheets about 1.5 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden.
  9. Let the cookies cool on wire racks.

Notes

Use room temperature butter for better creaming. Chill the dough for thicker cookies.
