A delightful dessert blending rich chocolatey goodness with the bright, tart flavor of cherries.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup cherries, pitted and chopped
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your 8-inch round cake pan.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in another bowl and whisk together.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, and mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped cherries and chocolate chips.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and spread it evenly.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes. Check for doneness with a toothpick.
  9. Let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Leftovers can be stored at room temperature for up to 3 days.
