A moist, one-layer sheet cake that’s simple to make and perfect for feeding a crowd.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a sheet cake pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Mix together the flour, baking powder, and salt in another bowl.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared sheet cake pan and spread it evenly.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let cool before frosting as desired.
