A classic dish of savory and sweet Crockpot Baked Beans, perfect for barbecues and family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups navy beans
  • 6 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 cups water

Instructions

  1. Rinse and soak the navy beans overnight in water.
  2. In a skillet, cook the chopped bacon until crispy.
  3. Remove the bacon and drain it on some paper towels.
  4. In the same skillet, sauté the diced onion until translucent.
  5. In a slow cooker, combine the soaked beans, cooked bacon, sautéed onion, brown sugar, molasses, ketchup, mustard, salt, pepper, and water.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 360-480 minutes, or until the beans are tender.
  7. Adjust seasonings if needed before serving.
  8. Serve the beans warm.

Notes

Don’t skip soaking the beans! It helps reduce cooking time and makes them creamy.
