A comforting bowl of pasta coated in buttery goodness and rich garlic flavors, topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.

Ingredients

  • Pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, or penne)
  • Butter (unsalted preferred)
  • Garlic (freshly minced)
  • Parmesan Cheese (freshly grated)
  • Salt (kosher or sea salt)
  • Pepper (freshly cracked black pepper)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add your pasta and cook according to package instructions, usually until al dente—about 8-10 minutes. Remember to reserve a cup of pasta water before draining!
  2. Sauté the Garlic: While the pasta cooks, heat a skillet over medium heat. Melt the butter, allowing it to foam gently. Add the minced garlic; sauté until fragrant—around 1-2 minutes—being careful not to let it brown.
  3. Combine Pasta and Garlic Butter: Once your pasta has cooked and drained, add it to the skillet with the garlic butter. Toss the strands to coat them thoroughly in the buttery goodness.
  4. Incorporate Parmesan: Gradually stir in the freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Use a splash of reserved pasta water to help the cheese melt and create a creamy sauce that clings to each noodle.
  5. Season and Serve: Add salt and pepper to taste, adjusting to your liking. Serve warm, garnished with additional cheese or fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

For make-ahead tips, cook the pasta and sauce separately, then toss with pasta water before serving. Customize by adding vegetables or protein of choice.
