Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cherry pie filling
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk (adjust for desired glaze consistency)
  • Sprinkles for decoration (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract.
  4. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt; then gradually add to the wet ingredients.
  5. Scoop out tablespoons of dough, flatten them, and place a small spoonful of cherry pie filling in the center. Fold and seal the edges.
  6. Place the filled cookies on the prepared baking sheet.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Allow to cool on a wire rack, then mix powdered sugar and milk for the glaze.
  9. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cookies and sprinkle with decorations.

Notes

Make sure to seal the cookies well to prevent leaks during baking. Chill the dough slightly for easier handling if it’s too soft.
