Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 4 burger buns
  • Salt

  • 4 slices cheese (optional)
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Onion
  • Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Form the ground beef into loose balls (3-4 ounces each).
  3. Season the beef balls with salt and pepper.
  4. Place the balls on the grill or skillet, spaced out.
  5. Use a spatula to smash them down into flat patties.
  6. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  7. Add cheese on top during the last minute of cooking (optional).
  8. Toast the burger buns on the grill.
  9. Assemble the burgers with your toppings and condiments.

Notes

Don’t rush the smashing step for maximum juiciness. Allow the patties to rest for a minute after cooking to redistribute juices.
