Deliciously rich chocolate cupcakes topped with a creamy buttercream frosting, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 12 tbsp milk (adjust for consistency)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your cupcake pan with liners.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Add the softened butter, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  4. Fill each cupcake liner about ⅔ full with the batter.
  5. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the cupcakes cool completely on a wire rack.
  7. Beat together softened butter and powdered sugar until fluffy, then add vanilla and milk to reach desired consistency for frosting.
  8. Frost the cooled cupcakes generously with the buttercream.
  9. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Always use softened butter for better texture. Feel free to customize with chocolate chips or nuts!
