A delicious and comforting dish featuring orzo pasta and ground beef in a rich tomato cream sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing for 2-3 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes (with their juices), heavy cream, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  4. Add the orzo pasta to the skillet, stirring to combine. Cover and cook for about 10-12 minutes, or until the orzo is tender and has absorbed most of the sauce, stirring occasionally.
  5. Once cooked, remove from heat and let it sit for a few minutes. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley and grated Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • Stir occasionally while the orzo is cooking to prevent sticking.
  • Feel free to add vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for extra flavor and nutrition.
  • This dish can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
