Ingredients
Scale
1 pound ground beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
1/2 green bell pepper, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon mustard
Salt and pepper to taste
4 hamburger buns
Optional toppings: pickles, shredded cheese, or coleslaw
Instructions
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 3-4 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.
Stir in the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and mustard. Mix well and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
While the mixture simmers, lightly toast the hamburger buns on a separate skillet or in the oven.
Once the beef mixture is thickened and heated through, spoon it generously onto the toasted buns.
Serve immediately, adding optional toppings like pickles, shredded cheese, or coleslaw if desired.
