Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add the softened butter, milk, egg, orange zest, and orange juice to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Knead gently until smooth.
  5. Roll the dough out into a rectangle, mix additional sugar with orange zest for the filling, then spread it over the rolled-out dough.
  6. Roll it up tightly and slice it into rolls.
  7. Place the rolls in the prepared baking pan, giving them space to rise.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. While they bake, mix the powdered sugar, orange juice, and zest to create the glaze.
  10. Once the rolls are out of the oven, drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls. Serve warm.

Notes

Let the rolls cool a bit before glazing. Glaze while warm for the best results.
