A moist and rich chocolate cake that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 3 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (for frosting)
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup milk (for frosting)
  • Rainbow sprinkles (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a sheet cake pan.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and baking soda in a large bowl.
  3. Add in the milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Stir in the boiling water; the batter will be thin.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool completely.
  7. Beat together the softened butter and cocoa powder for the frosting until smooth.
  8. Gradually add in the confectioners’ sugar and milk, mixing until creamy.
  9. Frost the cooled cake and top with rainbow sprinkles.
  10. Serve at parties or enjoy at home.
