- 2 cups fresh mint leaves
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 cups water
- 1 1/2 cups bourbon
- Crushed ice
- Fresh mint sprigs for garnish
Instructions
- Combine sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring often until dissolved.
- Remove from heat and add fresh mint leaves, allowing to steep for 30 minutes.
- Strain the mint syrup into a pitcher, pressing the leaves to extract all syrup.
- Add bourbon to the pitcher and mix well.
- Fill glasses with crushed ice, pour the mint julep mixture over, and garnish with fresh mint sprigs.
Notes
For best results, use fresh mint and chill your glasses before serving.
