- 1 egg yolk
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- Black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 6 ounces chopped pepperoni (thin slices preferred)
- 2 cups shredded cheese (50% Mozzarella, 50% Provolone)
- 1 teaspoon oregano or Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons butter (optional)
- 1 teaspoon garlic paste or 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, beat the whole egg and egg yolk together. Then add the milk, sugar, and vegetable oil. Mix well until combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, black pepper, and baking powder.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the chopped pepperoni, shredded cheese, oregano (or Italian seasoning), and garlic (if using). Mix until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan, smoothing the top. If desired, melt the butter and brush it on top for extra flavor.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
