A heartwarming dish featuring tender beef simmered in a rich onion gravy, perfect for cozy family gatherings and comforting dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds beef chuck, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Sear the beef: In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the beef cubes, ensuring they brown on all sides.
  2. Remove the beef and set aside. In that same pot, add the sliced onions and cook until softened and caramelized.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the onions and cook for an additional minute.
  4. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and garlic, stirring well to combine.
  5. Gradually pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce while stirring to prevent lumps.
  6. Place the beef back into the pot, season with thyme, salt, and pepper.
  7. Bring the stew to a gentle simmer, cover it, and let it cook on low for about 90-120 minutes.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.

Notes

This stew tastes even better the next day as the flavors meld together beautifully.
