Ingredients
Scale
2 cups vanilla ice cream
1 cup whole milk or your favorite dairy-free milk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Sweetener, if desired, to taste
For the Homemade Whipped Cream:
1 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Optional Toppings:
Maraschino cherries
Chocolate syrup
Caramel sauce
Colorful sprinkles
Instructions
Place your serving glasses in the freezer for 15 to 20 minutes before preparing the milkshake so they stay extra cold.
Add the vanilla ice cream, milk, vanilla extract, and sweetener (if using) to a blender. Blend for 30 to 60 seconds, or until the mixture is perfectly smooth, thick, and creamy.
Taste the milkshake and adjust the sweetness or consistency if needed. Blend again briefly after making any changes.
If you’re making fresh whipped cream, beat the heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar together with a splash of vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
Pour the finished milkshake into the chilled glasses. Top generously with whipped cream and decorate with cherries, chocolate or caramel sauce, and sprinkles if desired.
Serve immediately while cold and creamy.
Notes
Fresh whipped cream can be prepared up to one day in advance. Keep it refrigerated in an airtight container and give it a quick whisk before serving if needed.
